  1. I would like to request that yellow parking lines be put on the road outside my house. As we don’t have pavements in my part of the road, the road narrowed and with open plan gardens, the traffic is driving on my garden and I have had to put some quarry stones on the edge. People are still parking on the narrow part of the road and hence when trying to drive past, they are going on to the grass and churning it up. I live in Stocken Close and when they put the yellow lines down, for some reason they didn’t put them on the narrow part of the road . I like to keep my garden tidy with a few flowers but I’m not happy when cars are having to drive over the edge of my garden. Any help would be appreciated.

Gloucestershire Highways developed the parking restriction scheme and some areas were left unmarked to allow for resident parking; a full consultation was undertaken at the time.
We understand why you are unhappy with vehicles driving over your property and this should not be happening, however Gloucestershire Highways are unable to make any changes now as it would involve a further Traffic Regulation Order.
Hopefully the measures you have taken will prevent any further damage.

  2. Pleased to hear of the road resurfacing on the M5 designed to reduce noise levels.
Will the slip road at Junction 11a (Southbound) also be included?
The previous project some years ago actually ignored residents of Sussex Gardens with the freshly laid surface beginning at, approximately, the bridge over the Hucclecote Road bringing this small estate no relief whatsoever!!

No, the slip roads are not included in the resurfacing scheme.
We have been told the new low noise surface will significantly reduce the noise pollution, the scheme should be completed by the end of the month.

  3. Is there a possibility to increase traffic warden patrols along Hillview Road in Hucclecote. At evening rush hour the sheer number of people parking/stopping on double yellow makes travelling up this road increasingly chaotic.

The parking restrictions are enforced by Gloucestershire County Council, please contact them on 01452 425610 or email parking@Gloucestershire.gov.uk

  4. I am becoming increasingly frustrated and concerned about the cars that are being parked, during office hours, along Ashbrittle Road. The owners of the cars are walking across the private field towards the business park. On returning home late afternoon the number of cars parked along the road are preventing me and other home owners from parking outside our own properties. This problem has seemed to have escalated since the opening of a large office block. If anyone reading this has a solution to the problem, please leave a reply.

    1. In addition, some of these parked cars have car park badges in their windows with the company names which are on the business park.

      1. Parking can some times be an unpleasant topic since people get emotional about it, my view on the proposed parking restrictions in the area are:

        1) if parking restrictions are put in place and enforced by a private company the only one who will gain is the private company.
        2) if parking restrictions are put in place between 9 and 5 mon to fri then that will restrict legitimate visitors to the area, legitimate visitors include
        a) health visitors
        b) carers
        c) family
        d) all other people visiting residents
        3) the side affect of 2) is that it will make it more difficult for people to live their lives in peace, for example my wife now lives at home taking care of our new born baby. Her retired parents take a lot of joy in being able to visit us at home during “office hours”. Parking restrictions and enforcement could result in them getting fined for simply visiting their grand daughter.
        4) From time to time I may have to work from home, so both of the 2 proposed parking permits will be used up. The proposed parking restrictions will make visitors impossible.
        5) We have access to a private court yard, I would assume that the parking restrictions exclude private areas such as our courtyard.
        6) a quick search on Google indicates that the parking enforcement company can not really be trusted to not fine residents. There is an example of someone who got fined while parking in their own spot, the parking permit had fallen from the dash board and they got fined. PCM did not back down and threatened to take him to court for parking in his own parking space.
        7) the complaint seems to deal with a single road, my wife who is at home during “office hours” notes that there is no problem on the roads nearby, she walks around the area and there really is no problem with parking in the areas mentioned in the proposal.

In summary the proposed parking restrictions will create more trouble than it is worth, is not solving a real issue on the roads included in the proposal and is the wrong solution to the original problem.

I propose that the workers on the business estate be given parking permits to park close to where they work and not on residential streets.

        1. Will the owners of the Business Park please now build a multi-storey car park for the many workers, thereby enabling home owners to park outside their own homes and also to drive along the roads safely because as it is at the moment, the yellow lines make a mockery of road safety!!

        2. Goldie, The whole yellow lines is a joke. I phoned Gloucestershire Highways 2 years ago to complain about the lines and asked about parking permits for home owners to park outside there homes. I even put too them that we would pay for the permits. They were really rude and did not call me back!! They seem to forget that there are a lot of children who live round here who will be driving soon. And i am sorry but the parish council will not do anything either….all out for themselves and not the people who live in cranham gate.

  5. Please advise as to what can be done and to whom we should raise the issue of broadband speeds on Coopers Edge?
After reading the Fastershire statement, it reads that we are not on the roll out for 2018.
One cannot register for it as according to the Fastershire website search, we are in a super fast area, which with a broadband speed of less than 1Mb download, is completely untrue.

  6. I am seeking increased road safety measures in the Cranham gate estate. Specifically with regards the Folland road entrance, Bird road exit and all mini roundabouts.
The double yellow lines do not extend towards the large roundabout sufficiently on Folland avenue, and often as a result of irresponsible parking, drivers entering the estate must enter the roundabout on the wrong side of the road – there will be accidents.

The double yellow lines do not extend into the estate far enough on Bird road where it meets with Hucclecote road. On a morning school and work commuters leaving the estate face head on business park parkers entering the estate often at speed. There is room for one car, at a push two small cars to wait at the end of Folland road to enter Hucclecote road. Any more, and cars must hang back behind business park cars already parked up for the day – there will be accidents.

Finally, and the key reason for this post, following regular incidents where mini roundabouts are not treated as such, I had a bit of a ‘discussion’ with an adult male diver yesterday evening. At the mini roundabout at the end of Waterton close the number of times residents have had to break hard because traffic coming from the left drives straight on, even if we are already on the (small) roundabout. Last night a driver (seemingly non-resident and lost) was turning into Waterton close cut me up and then swore at me aggressively. What’s the rule of a roundabout I said… it’s not a roundabout he said, it’s a traffic calming measure! What shape is it I asked?

Here’s the rule… Mini roundabout priority

The two following rules of the Highway Code apply:
    Rule 185
When reaching the roundabout you should give priority to traffic approaching from your right, unless directed otherwise by signs, road markings or traffic lights
    Rule 188
Mini-roundabouts. Approach these in the same way as normal roundabouts. All vehicles MUST pass round the central markings except large vehicles which are physically incapable of doing so. Remember, there is less space to manoeuvre and less time to signal. Avoid making U-turns at mini-roundabouts. Beware of others doing this.

    Laws RTA 1988 sect 36 & TSRGD regs 10(1) & 16(1)

It seems he is not alone in seeing the mini roundabouts as traffic calming measures as this happens most days. Can give way signs or lines be installed, as residents we are increasingly frustrated and importantly endangered by (commonly business park) traffic. Please can something be done in order to protect the safety of residents.

    1. I’m in complete agreement with the above comments and the fact that the yellow lines were pit in incorrectly. Surely thus can be reviewed without another consultation? It is just not acceptable to have lines painted in such a way that if you park to them the road is blocked.

    2. Apparently, the mini roundabouts are classified as traffic calming measures! You couldn’t make it up, could you?

  7. Hi Can you tell me how to get a stall on the summer fete pls

    1. Please contact Nicky Bishop at info@stepnstyle.co.uk

  8. I was wondering who had responsibility for the green areas in Millfields in Hucclecote? Only I was enquiring about the possibility of fundraising to be able to put in a Trim Trail or small park or something over that side of Hucclecote, as there are no parks in that area, the nearest being either Insley Gardens or Pineholt. It’s a lovely spaces but the children need something to do/play on. We also desperately need more dog waste bins over this side of hucclecote too, as dog waste by our 2 local schools is becoming a daily dodge on the walks to school.

That’s a great idea, the area comes under Gloucester City Council so you will need to contact them about the park and dog bins.

      1. Consultations are a complete waste of time – just get on with it!

  9. The grass verges and fields in Cranham Gate are becoming an embarrassment. The whole area is looking very neglected as the grass is hardly ever cut. Are we to be given a rebate on our council tax?

    1. Will the person/persons in charge get a grip of the situation and look at the state of the area! It is a disgrace! What are we living in – 2018 or 1918?

  10. It seems to me that no one cares about the area in Hucclecote. It is under Tewkesbury Borough Council – just exactly where does our council tax payments go?

Our area a looks a complete mess! Will TBC get a grip and do their job properly!

Goldie, the parish council members care about the area and have contacted Tewkesbury Borough Council several times about the verges.

  11. Could you please give me any update when BT/OPENREACH upgrade cabinet 43 to fiber broadband. We have been here at 48 Peregrine Road for just over a year and the srvice [ ie broadband ] is SO SLOW. Trying to get and info. out of BT is like hitting your head against a brick wall!!!!!!!
    They have NO idea when.
    Can you help, thank you

We understand there are no plans to upgrade cabinet 43, however Brockworth Parish Council were going to investigate this further so you could contact them.

      1. I would change to Virginmedia – we have a great service, very fast and at very reasonable rates. Go to the website Virgin Media – Official Site. BT Open reach no good at all!

  12. The parking on Zoons Road near the junction with Churchdown Lane is quite dangerous. Can double yellow lines be considered? The cars are parked close to the junction and often on each side of the road. Thank you.

Please contact Gloucestershire Highways on 08000 514514 or your Gloucester City Council David Brown at david.brown@gloucester.gov.uk

  13. Who do I need to talk to about unsafe but (probably) legal parking and whether yellow lines need to be painted please?

Please contact Gloucestershire Highways on 08000 514 514 or email highways@gloucestershire.gov.uk. You can also report matters through the website at http://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/

      1. Sorry but as Council Administrator (Parish Council) you should be doing this!! Cranham Gate is a mess with the grass growing long and not being cut. The parking is a joke now and Home owners do not have a leg to stand on.

  14. Who is responsible for cutting back the hedges along Hucclecote Road? The pavement is narrow enough without a portion sacrificed to people’s overgrown hedges. If you are more than 5 feet tall you have to dodge hedges and tree branches, and it’s pretty dangerous to cross at the junction of Hucclecote Road & Green Lane, because you can’t see round the overgrown hedge if there are any vehicles turning in. The pavements near and under the bridge need cleaning of the dirt and dead leaves that turn to mush on a rainy day. Also when is the poor drainage on Hucclecote Road going to be addressed. Each time it rains the road becomes a river, and it is concerning to see the colour of that water.

      Council Administrator

Most of the hedges along Hucclecote Road and in particular on the corner of Green Lane are the responsibility of the house owner, clearing of pavements would be Gloucester City Council. Its probably best to report both issues to Gloucestershire Highways on 08000 514514 as they can write to both parties.
