Outlined below are the arrangements for the refuse, recycling, food and garden waste over the Christmas and New Year period, focusing on Monday collections in particular. Residents in Hucclecote Parish will be missed on the Monday 25 December collection so please be aware of the arrangements being made. Collections that would normally be scheduled on Monday 25 December will not take place. Collections will take place for food waste the following week and the missed bin the following fortnight. A postcode based lookup for collections is here for your reference.

Extra blue recycling bags:
The council has a stock of single use blue bags (blue transparent bin liners) for residents to help them manage their recycling over Christmas. You can collect them from the parish council office Monday – Friday between 9 – 12.

The schedule for Monday collections over Christmas and New Year are as follows:

Monday 25 December –  No collection
Monday 1 January –  Tuesday 2 January – (Catch up collection for the missed food collection on 25th December)
Monday 8 January –  Monday 8 January – (Catch up collection for the missed green refuse or blue recycling bin on 25th December)

Non collection of green bin:
Residents can put out extra bags of refuse but only on the next collection (Monday 8 January). The crews will be instructed to take this side waste from households. Please recycle as much as possible as this will reduce the quantity of refuse in the green bin. If residents wish, additional waste can be taken to the household recycling centres (near Stoke Orchard or Hempsted); they are open every day 9am – 6:15pm except Christmas Day and News Year’s day.

Non collection of blue bin:
Residents can put out extra recycling the following fortnight on the next collection day (Monday 8 January) either in the blue bags or in a suitable container such as a recycling box. The crews will be instructed to take extra recycling from households. There are also recycling banks in the area and also the household recycling centres. More information here: www.tewkesbury.gov.uk/recycling.

Non collection of food caddy:
The next collection will be the following week and a day later than usual (Tuesday 2 January). Residents are advised to use plastic bags and/or newspaper to double wrap food waste, keep the outdoor caddy lid shut and use the handle to lock it. Uncooked fruit and vegetable waste (stalks, peeling, seeds etc.) can be home composted.

Non collection of brown bin:
The next collection will be the following (Monday 8 January). Garden waste at this time of the year is exceptionally low. Real Christmas trees can be put out alongside (or small ones inside) the garden waste bins.
